Associate Professor Lionel Reyftmann is a gynaecologist, specialising in reproductive medicine and laparoscopic surgery based at Illawarra Reproductive Medicine & Laparoscopy (IRML).
He has practiced obstetrics for many years but has now decided to re-direct his career mainly towards gynaecology and infertility to offer his patients a very specialised care.
Dr Reyftmann will be consulting in the same location as the GENEA world leading fertility clinic which will greatly improve the continuity of care that can be offered. How can IRML help?
Many couples find it hard to conceive a child naturally and are often left frustrated as to why. They will often form their own preconceived ideas as to why they are not falling pregnant.
Dr Reyftmann can help couples find the root cause of these infertility problems and treat them appropriately so they too can enjoy the joys of parenthood.
He always keeps an integrated vision of fertility practice. The interventions offered are gradually stepped from simple medical and lifestyle management, up to advanced laparoscopic surgery or assisted reproductive technologies (IVF, ICSI) depending on the individual case and the patients’ wish. Not all patients need or wish to go through assisted reproduction techniques, it is so much better to make a baby the old way, under a doona, whenever possible...!
The fertility treatments offered include:
Female and male infertility
Counselling and second opinion
PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) management
Explorations and management of recurrent miscarriages
In vitro fertilization IVF
Intra cytoplasmic spermatozoid injection ICSI
Intra Uterine Inseminations IUI
In selected cases, we offer IVF with natural cycles and mild stimulated cycles
Laparoscopic services offered for:
Heavy menstrual bleedings
- Benign conditions surgery (ovarian cysts)
Dr Reyftmann has reported the first pregnancies in Australia after fertiloscopic ovarian drilling PCOS, a technique he has introduced from his native France to Australia.
