Since opening more than 2 years ago, Growing Stars Montessori School in Flinders has offered our local community childcare with a difference. That difference
is education through experience and discovery. According to Maria Montessori, children experience life, learn, and develop intelligence through the use of touch, taste, smell, sight, and sound. The senses, being explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge. Children learn through discovery, not simply repetition. Simply, children are very capable of self-directed learning. As such, the Growing Stars Montessori classroom provides an ideal environment and abundance of activities for self-learning.
Our learning environment is light and colourful, the bright materials and activities attract the children to explore and engage in all areas, at their own pace. There is freedom to enjoy the world-class Montessori classroom activities and newly enhanced outside activities which include bike-track, enclosed slide, and huge sandpit.
The classes are structured in a traditional Montessori way, with children between 2.5 and 6 years of age, interacting together, learning from and assisting each other. All this guided and overseen by our caring educators.
The children’s day starts at 8:30 and finishes at 3:30. Group discussions, mid-morning snack and outside play are part of the morning’s activities, with music and movement as well as physical exercises and games. This routine provides the self-discipline necessary to nurture developing skills. To learn more about our Curriculum and our Approach, CLICK HERE.

How does Montessori differ from other methodologies?
The Montessori
philosophy set out by Maria Montessori aims to develop each child’s innate desire to learn by using a child’s natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
To educate children to their full potential, Maria Montessori felt that children must have the freedom to learn at their own pace. The Montessori teachers
take into account the differences in each child’s learning style and pace at which they learn. Lessons are tailored to your child’s interests. The
classroom/learning environment is prepared to encourage directed and independent learning. Our teachers are trained to know when to stand back and
let these instincts drive discovery and learning. This proves to be very empowering and boosts children’s confidence tremendously discovering that
they have the intelligence to do things and develop the skills themselves, which has long term results.
Give your child the gift of a love for learning. Call 0490 350 861 or email info@growingstars.net.au for enquiries or registration information. You can also follow us on our Instagram page HERE.
