The South Coast Writers Centre ‘Young Archie’ Writing Competition is a real-life story writing prize for young people.

In partnership with Shoalhaven Regional Gallery and Shoalhaven Libraries, the competition is open for young people to submit either a memoir (your real-life story) or a biography (someone else’s life story).

Competition Guidelines:

  • Open to 9-18 years olds
  • Suggested word count for ages 9-12 is 500 words
  • Maximum word length for all age categories is 1000 words
  • All entries must be submitted via the South Coast Writers Centre website.
  • Entrants must reside on the South Coast of NSW (between Helensburgh and Eden).

The competition will be judged in three age categories: 9-12, 13-15 and 16-18 based on writing merit, creativity and originality. The winner of each category will receive $100, a South Coast Writers Centre book pack, and their story will be published on the South Coast Writers Centre website.

The competition opens on 4th September and closes on 16th October. The winners will be announced on 16th November via the South Coast Writers Centre website.
